DGF Post 397 Claims First Minnesota State Championship
The grind of the NW Sub State Tournament only added 'fuel to fire' as it motivated the 2019 version of Post 397 Baseball to its first Minnesota State Championship in program history in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. The State Tournament held in Ely had DGF knocking off the host team Ely 9-0 in the opening round. DGF advanced to the semi-finals against Caledonia which used the pitching combination of Alec Gulseth and Nathan Leitner to win 4-3 in 10 innings. DGF did not commit and error in the game and received a walk-off single from Gulseth in bottom of the 10th to push Post 397 to the the Championship game. DGF played perennial power Plato Post 641 (Glencoe-Silver Lake) on Championship Sunday. Post 397's Jay Greuel pitched a complete game gem throwing a 6-hitter, with DGF tallying 7 hits, including Adam Weatherly's go-ahead Sac-fly scoring Alec Gulseth in the bottom of 6th inning to push DGF ahead 2-1. DGF punched their first ever State Championship behind a game-ending 5-4-3 double play in the 7th inning to secure the 2-1 victory. DGF finished the State Tournament with zero errors on defense and earned a trip to the Central Regional in Waupun, WI. Senior Jacobe Stetz (DGF) was named the State Tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
NW Sub State Champs!
DGF Post 397 defeated Warroad 15-0 in the 'If Neccessary' Championship Game of the 2019 NW Sub State Tournament. DGF's quest through the losers bracket to get another shot at Warroad was accomplished by knocking off defending Champion Stephen-Argyle 9-0, then a come-from-behind 7-5 victory over Warroad to force the If Neccessary game. DGF will advance to the D2 State Tournament being hosted by Ely on August 2-4. DGF will play the host team Ely at 7:00pm on Friday night.
South Sub Champs!
The DGF Post 397 SR. Legion team finished up the South Sub State as Champions this weekend with wins over Frazee 6-0, Barnesville 6-5 and Hawley 11-2 to advance to the NW Sub State in Red Lake Falls, MN. Post 397 will open the Sub State with Win-E-Mac at 11am on Thursday, July 25.

Kohler Named All-Tournament
Junior shortstop/pitcher Carter Kohler was named to the Central Regional All-Tournament team. He was (5 for 14) .357 with 3 singles, a double and a HR. Kohler also won the HR Derby on the opening night with 6 HRs which defeated Myles Parker of New London, WI who had 3 HRs.
